2009 Scholarship Awards

July 23, 2009 (Vancouver BC) - Les Dames d’Escoffier BC Chapter (LDEI BC) recognized the wealth of talent in the local culinary industry when they awarded eleven scholarships at their annual Induction and Scholarship Dinner held at Boneta Restaurant in Vancouver.  2009 Recipients

Local BC chef, Rebecca Troelstra was awarded a Les Dames d’Escoffier Legacy Award.   These one-week internships were created to give young women, who are not Dames, a firsthand opportunity to learn more about the culinary and wine professions from our most accomplished Dames.  Chef Troelstra, Executive Chef at Mizuna Culinary in Langley, BC, will spend a week with Dames Alison Awerbuch and Abigail Kirsch at Abigail Kirsch Culinary Productions in New York.

Les Dames d'Escoffier British Columbia Scholarships

Les Dames d’Escoffier (Vancouver Chapter) is accepting applications for our Scholarship Awards, supporting the advancement of women in hospitality and culinary fields. Awards are based on merit and ability, and vary in amount according to the program they support.

We offer these scholarships to women of all ages who are keen to begin basic training in these areas and to women already skilled in these fields, who seek to refine their expertise.

Applicants must be B.C. residents. We also work with other organizations to provide additional scholarship opportunities such as the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, Debra van Ginkel Award and Mission Hill Family Estate.

The Scholarship Committee of the BC Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier is an administrative body that annually grants scholarships to women with a desire to begin training in culinary, beverage or hospitality fields and to women already skilled in these fields who seek to refine or further their expertise.  All scholarships are awarded based on merit, ability, commitment and passion, and may range in value between $500 and $5000 dollars depending on funds available, program requirements and approved applicants. Each application is reviewed and evaluated by the scholarship committee composed of Les Dames members. All applicants must be BC residents.

Please note, most scholarships we award rarely constitute a complete tuition, therefore you must be able to provide the remaining funds through other sources, and not all applicants are awarded funds. Please Note: A $30 non refundable processing fee is required to administer your application whether you are awarded a scholarship or not.

In addition to the scholarships awarded by Les Dames, we also administrate the award of several scholarships on behalf of Mission Hill Winery, Northwest Culinary Academy and Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.
