Barbara Coates brings over 40 years of professional experience in both the broadcast and non-profit industries to her volunteer work with Les Dames, as well as a passion for all things gastronomic. Her skill as a storyteller contributed to the creation of documentaries, television series, movies and short form videos for a variety of Canadian and US broadcasters, and later helped to increase stakeholder engagement for a number of local charities. Since 2016 she has served as the Executive Director of the Dan’s Legacy Foundation, working with a team of dedicated professionals to provide no-cost, easily accessible mental health counselling and wrap-around programming for youth at risk in Metro Vancouver. Since 2021, Dan’s Legacy has provided no-cost job-skills training to youth at risk in Metro Vancouver through its Cook Training and Dan’s Diner Social Enterprise & Catering programs.
